Jazz Hands?

So, my friend started a project.

She has been taking photos of different people’s hands and she asked me to be part of this. I found this to be an opportunity to reflect. So here’s my reflection.

How many of us truly stop, think and reflect on how important our hands are to us? Unless we get a paper cut, twist our nail in some sort of small hole or shut our car door on our fingers, we rarely stop and appreciate how lucky we are to have them.

Appreciate all the fine movements we can make with them, how we can put on certain clothing, fasten zips and buttons and how some people, with the right teachings and practice can sew someone up, can perform key hole procedures and operate machinery with extreme detail.

With our hands we can check if someone has fever, we can feel someone’s face and know what emotion they’re feeling. People’s hands can bring so much happiness, they can bring joy – though music and art.

These hands, they’re the ones that dress me, feed me, bathe me and help me experience life, through the much overlooked sense of touch.

What good have you done with your hands?
