Hi, I’m Elinore, a woman who is struggling to describe who she is without mentioning the words Occupational Therapy in the first two sentences, well, one apparently! I reflect on that and I can’t go on without stating the obvious at this point, stating that I’m an Occupational Therapist. I say this proudly – I’m one of the good ones! How funny of me to say that. Who wouldn’t say that they’re the best? But honestly, I’m empathic and give my all for my clients and colleagues and I work very hard to have that ‘empathy switch’ stay on after all the years. I have worked in the private and public sectors for the past five years, ever since I graduated in 2016. I am currently reading for a Masters in Advanced Occupational Therapy within the Community setting which has been a whirlwind of emotions, but I’m doing it!
I am a passionate individual and find it very hard to narrow my interests down to just a few. Sometimes I like the outdoors, other times I just feel like staying in, drinking a cup of coffee while binge-watching shows on Netflix. I’m too proud to give up a challenge because I know that if I set my mind to it I can do it.
So Yeah for the year 2022 I’m taking up the challenge of writing whatever is in my head. I’m excited to get to know the readers, network and put my thoughts on paper, because I, like everyone else – I deserve to be heard. I also hope that I’m an advocate for those people who need a voice.
